Common Origins Hip Hop Dance Team

I joined the Common Origins hip hop dance team my freshman year, and was a part of the team until Spring 2017. The description of the team on our website reads:

Common Origins is a non-audition, hip-hop dance group based in Stanford. We focus on creating a unique and challenging environment that brings both experienced and new dancers together through their shared passion for dance. Throughout the year, we aim to train both our dancers and choreographers by teaching and performing a wide range of fresh, exciting choreography. Despite mainly being a hip-hop dance team, we hope to instill an appreciation of the art as a whole since we recognize that all types of dance can inspire and enrich CO's unique personality.
I was voted Publicity Officer for the team for the 2016-2017 school year. My role was to manage the CO Facebook group and post about workshops and performances, design "swag" (shirts, hats, and other promotional accessories) for Breaking Ground, manage/delegate for photoshoots, and create Facebook profile pictures and cover photos for all members, flyering, promo videos, and programs. I designed, printed, and distributed flyers around campus in the beginning of the year to promote the team, as well as participated in the campus Activities Fair to showcase the team to incoming Freshmen.

I then designed and created the pamphlet for the team's big show in the autumn quarter, Breaking Ground. We printed over 200 to hand out to the attending audience. Furthermore, we set up a Facebook event page for the show, and posted features of each of the other teams performing as the show drew closer. We set up a photo shoot for the team, and it was my job to take themed photos of roughly a third of the 60-person team and edit them in photoshop with banners, for each person and for each theme group to post as their cover photos and profile pictures in the days leading up to the event. I worked with several of the members and with outside designers to create a logo for the team that year, and co-designed the shirts for the team to wear during Breaking Ground. I then worked with several vendors and with the Financial Officers to order, fund, and distribute the shirts to the team before the event. After the performance, I worked the rest of the year to promote each workshop the team put on with flyers and Facebook posts, and promoted Common Origins' appearances in several other shows during the year.
