Introductory Electronics

The course description for this class is as follows:

 

Overview of electronic circuits and applications. Electrical quantities and their measurement, including operation of the oscilloscope. Basic models of electronic components including resistors, capacitors, inductors, and the operational amplifier. Digital hardware and software implementations of a robot car.


In this course I was able to build, from scratch, several projects to demonstrate various concepts that we learned in the course. I built an amplifier that could connect an auxiliary input to an auxiliary output to increase the sound, as well as several other circuits to turn on small LEDs. For my final project, I built an RC car with an Arduino microprocessor. The car was controlled by a smartphone via bluetooth. I programmed it to move forward, in reverse, and turn to each side, as well as turn slightly to each side either in forward or reverse. It could also be controlled by a smartphone gyroscope. The car was able to sense red lights and stop, only moving again when a green light was detected.
